WildyWeb: two Scousers in India

Pete, Louise and Sanjeeb's Indo-blues-folk-country-gospel fusion album. Honest.

Nobody's fault but ours

This 2005 recording is a collaboration between three members of staff at Woodstock School in India. Sanjeeb Sircar, from Delhi,  is a classically-trained sitar player with an interest in all kinds of music. Louise Bamber studied classical violin in the UK but is more fascinated with Celtic and folk fiddle playing.

We spent the early part of 2005 playing together. After a few weeks we started to find songs which suited the combination of instruments and our own personal playing styles. The songs vary from traditional blues to country folk tunes to Celtic and Hindi worship songs. All of the songs were recorded live in the studio, with harmonies and some extra instruments added later. That’s our way of saying that we left most of the mistakes in. This is who did what:

Sanjeeb Sircar, sitar; Louise Bamber, violin; Pete Wildman, guitars, bass and harmonica. Zingrin Shishak played keyboards on tracks 3, 4 and 12. Sanjeeb sang the lead on Mukti Dilaye; Pete sang lead on all the others. Pete and Louise sang most of the harmonies. It’s nobody’s fault but ours.
